Subject: [HV] Burial at Waratah - Jenkins Family
Date: Sun, 22 Feb 2004 16:09:02 +1100
Hi,
I have a death cert. of my g-g-auntie LYDIA JENKINS who died on the 24th December, 1883 at Hamilton.
She was buried on the 26th December at Waratah - Religion - C of E.
The cert. was filled in by her father Ephraim Henry Jenkins of Hamilton.
Does anybody know where this burial ground was and where I could find her buried now.
I have been to Waratah & was unable to find any graveyards.
I realise that the chances of a grave still being there is unlikely, but would like to find her final resting place.
Could she be at Sandgate??
Also if there is any maps that I could obtain that would show records of the graveyard at that particular time & her location now if possible??
Also, looking for any info on this family - Ephraim Henry & Matilda Jenkins lived at Hamilton, Stockton & finally settled at Stanford Merthyr - they are buried at Kurri Cemetary with some of their children.
Their children were:
Mary Louisa, Elizabeth, Margaret, Francis Henry, Lydia, Sarah Maude, Lydia, Rebecca & Richard Thomas.
Ephraim was one of the first miners employed at Stanford Merthyr Colliery & they were one of the
first families to settle at Stanford Merthyr.
Ephraim was born at Cwmbach, Wales & Matilda (nee Evans) was born at Glamorgan, Wales, Mary & Elizabeth were also born in Wales, the other children were born here at Hamilton, Wallsend & Stockton.
The family came here in 1874.
If anyone has any info on this family or photographs or even a family connection, I would be interested
in hearing from you.
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Karen Bamforth
