My maternal side has connections with "The Branch" (near Stroud) in the
1920s - 1930s. I have some clippings of the Dungog Chronicle in
1937-37 which provide a wealth of titbits of events submitted to the
paper by "our correspondent" from The Branch. Besides the events
reported it demonstrates an entirely different journalistic style.

Reports on the (ill) health of residents include:
"... is still in Waratha Mater Nusericordiae Hopsital suffereing
with rheumatic fever..."
" Another call to the Doctor has ... made on account of her foot,
and on observation by he doctor at Dungog he found if imperative to pen
the wound up again."
"... found his throat troubling and his visit to a Newcastle dcotor,
last week, disclosed that the trouble was quinsy..."
Patient - Doctor confidentiality ????????????????

Other events reported include:
The commencement of Ministry of Rev. Maxwell Howard. Poor
attendance a a church service due to the weather. Sunday School
picnic. Sunday School Anniversary
Visitors to The Branch
School Break-Up Concert. Parental concern regarding the closure of
the school due to low enrollment numbers
Farewell to long time resident
Road Repairs
Results of sporting events - bowls, tennis
Coroner's Inquest
Accidents at the Saw Mill

Maybe others on the mailing list have family links to The Branch.
Families include King, Bogey, Coleman, Isaacs, Andrews, Reeves, Thoimpson .
