Joseph married Jane Sarah Sylvester on 12th July 1883 at Primitive Methodist Church, King Street Newcastle.
This marriage cert does not give any details to where he was born or his parents names.
His death cert says he was born in Sydney c.1857 but I have been unable to find this birth. It again does not list his parents names.

Would anyone be researching the same family or could anyone give me any ideas where to go next.
