When you say there are mistakes in the birth registers re:locations, are
they only wrong in the index or do these mistakes appear on the
transcription as well? Are the BDM indexes that are available on line the
only ones available and if not do the other copies of the registry indexes
contain these errors also?

location errors in the NSW BDMs

You might discount a birth ref allegedly registered in
Bowerville when you know the family lived at Braidwood
In 1886 200 Kiama births appear as registered in Katoomba

So dont take as gospel every thing in print
