Hi Jillian,

Last May I visited the Mitchell's Island cemetery and I recall seeing some
McDermid graves. I think they are below the access road, but I can't
remember names, etc. There must have been some special information on one
of the headstones for it to stick in my mind.

I am not related to your McDermid, but am related to many others buried
there. We spent several hours transcribing and photographing the headstones
of our ancestors. It is a beautiful site on the hill overlooking Croki and
Jones Island with the mountain range in the distance up the river.

The Manning-Wallamba Family History Society have transcriptions of most of
the cemeteries in the area in book form including Mitchell's Island.

Names from the Lower Manning I am researching include WHATSON, GILL,
LONGWORTH, MASTERS, CAUSE and ALBURY. Also in the Grafton area TRENT and
WILCOX. I would love to hear from anyone from these families.
