HI All,
My father was a Sergeant Instructor in WW2. At one time he was at
Moorebank, NSW. His name was Herbert (Bert) Tremain. Sometime in the very
early 1940s some members of one of his classes all went to Hume Studios,
Macquarie Street, Liverpool, Sydney, and had their photograph taken. They
signed it around the borders with their names and record numbers. And names
of their home towns. They presented the photograph to my father as a mark
of appreciation. (Liverpool was the nearest town to the Army Camp)
Their names and record numbers are as follows:
Pte J. COLEMAN or COLMAN, NX44989, Newcastle.
Pte I.M. or L.M. BUTLER, NX49061, Newcastle
Pete E. SIEGEL, NX41999, Wahroonga
Pte R.S. MORLEY, NX49067, Armidale
Pte H.A. MORLEY, NX45037, Armidale
Pte K. Van Guder, NX48.473 or 478, Casino
Pte G. PARKER, NX44171, Goulburn
Pte Harry J. MAURER, or MAURIER, NX49350, Randwick.
The soldiers were stationed at Moorebank at this time, I believe. My father
was very proud of this photo and kept it in a frame.
After his death in 1974 it was decided that the War Memorial Museum was the
place to send this wonderful record of eight soldiers who had just passed
their
examinations and were now to be sent on to other places.
The photograph was sent to the War Memorial Museum at Canberra in late 1975
or early 1976.
With regards
Elizabeth
