Hi Richard. The item reads:-
The lands on the western perimeter of Lake Innes in Burrawan parish,
attracted two of the first settlers. By 21st March 1839, Thomas Gore owned
3434 acres there. His northern boundary adjoined Major Innes' land between
the lake and Five Mile Creek, with portions 8 and 9 extending as far south
as Ten Mile Creek. Also in Burrawan parish, portion 2, consisting of 982
acres, had a common boundary with Thomas Gore's land and was purchased by
Lieut Whitting(or Whiting).

I notice you mention he was in the Darling Downs area- I have Jan Ward-
Brown's "Rosenthal" which has quite a few mentions of
Joshua Joseph Whitting of "Haldon" run in 1851. If this is your man, I can
extract the quotes for you.

I have checked our "Pioneer Register" with no additional details and
aslo our BDM register, no results.

In return would appreciate any info on the Lieutenant for my records.
Ian, Port Macquarie
