Hello Deb,
Thanks very much for responding and for the helpful hints and links. I've
filed them away for future reference.
I wonder why Alexander Edward MAMMATT was in Kolondong in 1918. The place
must have been more important in those days as it had a WW2 recruitment
centre, apparently! It's a bit of a tease when someone unrelated but with
the same, rare surname pops up unexpectedly!

Kolodong (without the N):
A village about 5.5 km E by S of Wingham and about 4 km NW by W of Taree
Railway Station.
It's aboriginal for dove.

- which when I typed in Kolondong under Street name, then zoomed out, showed
the area with the other spelling (south of Wingham Rd) - which helped me
search for the right name under the geographical names register.
