I am still trying to find some missing links for my great grandparents:
Joseph MARKS and Mary DOWNEY, and I need some help please !!!!!
Joseph Marks married Frances Murray (Wesleyan Religion) in Feb 1874 at Wagga Wagga
Joseph and Frances had a baby girl - Rachael Maria Marks in Aug 1874 " "
Nine weeks later - Frances (Fanny) suddenly died in October 1874 " "
Witnesses to the marriage were: Frederick Leary Smith, Maria Leary Smith
Witnesses to the birth of Rachael: Sarah Ryan (possibly the midwife ?)
Witnesses to the death were again Frederick and Maria Leary Smith
What would have happened to the 9 week old baby?
Would she have been adopted or fostered?
There is a marriage in 1921 of Rachel Marks (Leders) to Maurice Sussman at Petersham.
Could this have been her, at 37 years of age, a little late to be getting married if its the first time?
Then, 4 years after the loss of his wife, in 1878, Joseph Marks and Mary Downey are registering
the birth of their 5th child (my grandfather) Joseph Marks (junior) with previous issue -
2 males, 1 female living, 1 female deceased.
There is no registered marriage for Joseph and Mary, but there is a marriage for :
Mary Downey and Ludwig Stark in 1868 at Wagga Wagga.
They had 2 sons - Lewis (b.1871) and William (b. 1873)
After that time Ludwig leaves Mary and starts having children with an Eliza or Elizabeth.
I can't get my head around it all, I was thinking that Ludwig Stark and Joseph Marks were the same person.
Can anyone help with any suggestions please, or do you recognise the witnesses.
Many thanks
Jo
