Jennifer,
Re: your question of Wed 3 Jan (Has anyone got a copy of a good detailed
map of the Abercrombie district about 1830s vintage or where can I see one
without going to the Lands Office in Sydney?).
I don't know anything about the Abercrombie area, but Land and Property
Information New South Wales has a website which might be useful. It
includes the Parish Map Preservation Project:
<http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/maps/pmap/search.html>
There are lots of great old maps to be found there, but moving around each
one can take some time (dont go there in a hurry!). Its easiest if you
can start with a basic knowledge of the district's layout. Also, youll
probably need to know the name of the parish in which the place is located -
you can find this information at the Placename Search:
<http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/geog/search.htm>
which will also list alternative places sharing the same name.
Good luck with your search.
Debbie
