Subject: ROWLES in Wollongong
Date: Tue, 10 Jul 2001 17:54:15 EDT
I wonder if anyone is familiar, either in the past or the present, with a
family named ROWLES ( Michael, and wife Bridget Ryan) who came from Doon
(parish), Co. Limerick, Ireland in 1864 with their 6 children and settled in
Wollongong, NSW.
I am searching for this family because my ancestors, also named ROWLES were
from the same small townland (Cloonteen), but they all emigrated to Wisconsin
and Minnesota in the USA. This is normally an English name, but these folks
were definitely Irish, and Catholic, and when they emigrated the name became
basically extinct there.
I see that there are ROWLES names in the Wollongong white pages. but I
hesitate to trouble people if they have quite a different heritage, are not
interested in family history, and from this great distance. So, if anyone
happens to know anything about any of the living people and you think they
might be interested, could you kindly pass my message along to them, along
with my e-mail address? I'd like to share information and we could perhaps
extend our research.
Thank you,
Ann Lamb
