As a follow on from the discussions of ancestors moving to the Northern
Rivers area, would any listers know the reason for relocating to the New
England region?
My ancestors, William and Margaret QUINN (nee POWER) were married at Moruya
in 1866, and remained there until sometime after the birth of their fourth
child in May 1872. The births of their next three children were recorded in
the Inverell district between 1874 and 1878, after which the family settled
in the Hunter Valley.
William's parents, Michael QUINN and Elizabeth (nee FLOOD) arrived in
Australia in 1841 and settled in the Moruya area. Other children were
Thomas, Michael, John and Margaret ( later to become Mrs Charles McCAULEY).
Records indicate that Margaret QUINN (nee POWER) and sisters Bridget, Maria
and Eliza arrived in Australia in 1863/1864, possibly sponsored by their
uncle, Michael STORMON.
Bridget later married John CORBETT, Maria married Edward BROWN, and as yet
I've been unable to find any information at all on Eliza.
I'd be very interested to make contact with anyone who may have these names
in their family trees.
Maureen
