I'm one who does not think genetics has much relationship to genealogy.
Genealogy is about evidence of relationships between specific individuals,
with not much difference in research methods for males or females. Genetics
can give a probability that you might be descended from a particular pool
of people in the distant past through an exclusively male or an exclusively
female lineage. At best it can add some statistical likelihood to a family
anecdote.
That's one opinion about gender-specific genetic probabilities compared to
genealogical techniques.
