Dear Elaine,

There are two church buildings within the Anglican Parish of Cobar:

St Paul's, Cobar,

As for the Confirmation Medal, your grandmother would have received
the Sacrament of Confirmation somewhere about that time. In all
possibility the identical medal was used by both Catholics and
Anglicans.

If you think your Mum was Baptised and Confirmed at Nymagee, the
parish secretary at Cobar, I'm sure, could look up the register.
If you want a commemorative certificate for your Historical Record
purposes, you could purchase blank ones either at your local Anglican
Church or a Christian Bookshop, forward them to the Church Office and
ask the secretary to fill in the information and put the Parish Stamp
(Seal) on it.

(Always offer a little something as a donation to the parish as
well.)

Baptisms usually occurred as a baby or when the Minister visited the
parish, if not in permanent residence. Confirmation usually somewhere
between the ages of 7 - 15 or conveniently when the Bishop (of
Bathurst) was visiting the area.

If your Mum was Baptised as an adult, then the sacrament of
Confirmation may have happened at the same time.

Nymagee:
One hotel now survives of the five that prospered in Nymagee in the
1880’s. Copper mining and gold prospects drew more than two thousand
people to the town and the hilly district surrounding it. The main
copper mine, located on the town’s western outskirts, closed in 1917.
