Dear Rusheen
That's all very well, but what I REALLY want to know is how come George
Carstairs (Tarangara 1854/45) died in Fiji?
'On the 18th May [1870], at Kingsbarns, Taviuni, Fiji, after a long and
painful illness, George A. Carstairs aged 52 years, and lately of Mallara
Station, NSW.'
I first heard of a Fijian connection from local Aboriginal people - in the
context that some Aboriginal people from the lower Darling (Cuthero/Para
area) may have Fijian ancestry. Then I discovered that Carstairs had died
there....
So if you're looking for some more geese to chase......
Cheers
