An Elisha Lavis was witness at marriage of John Ellis to Amelia Keens. I am not having much luck with the elusive Ellis clan, John James and William, to find their place of origin etc. Lavis and Ellis families were said to have come from Somerset and my thought is that if I can find the place of origin of the Lavis family it may also be that of Ellis family. Both families settled in Bungowannah NSW in 1860s.
