My 3 great grandfather, George Buckton, arrived on the ship "York" into
Port Jackson on 7 February 1831.

He was described as being 21 years of age, could read & write and being
5' 6 & 3/4", having a ruddy, fair complexion, fair hair and grey eyes
with a small scar between his eyebrows, horizontal scar over right eye,
scar at left corner of lower lip.

It also states that he was a widower from Yorkshire and that he ploughs,
reaps, sows, milks and shears.

He was convicted on 23 Feb 1830 at Durham & Sodberg Assizes for stealing
wheat and received a 7 year sentence.

He received his T of F on 3 October 1839 and was forwarded to William
Sparke, Hunter River on 16 July 1840.

He married Esther Williams about 1835 at Maitland.

He died on 31 January 1881 at Blue Gum Flat (Ourimbah) NSW and is buried
in Lisarow Cemetery.
