Just a quick word,
(1) if you are looking for a grave at South Head Cemetery, GO FIRST TO WAVERLY CEMETERY, as they hold all the records for South Head as well. Also, perhaps even more important, the toilets at South Head are locked.

(2) the office for Matraville Cemetery (and Pioneer Park) is now outside the cemetery - 12 Military Road.

and now what the birthday fairy did for me:

You saw my Christmas wish re Mary Lord's burial place,
And how Santa Claus got onto the chase
I then sent out a challenge to the birthday fairy
What can you find connected with "Lord" or "Airey"?
So, never one to be outdone by Saint Nick,
She had me out to Waverly Cemetery quite quick,
I was aware that three were buried there,
But in front of the grave, I could only stare,
As lo and behold - 10 were there!!!

The names of 7 descendants of Simeon and Mary Lord
Plus 2 husbands and a brother had been scored
On a lovely white cross overlooking the sea -
A beautiful view just between you and me.

Then down to Matraville to the Pioneer Park
Looking for Simeon's tomb with great glee
It was easily found, but oh, deary me,
Either time or vandals had left their mark!!!

So thank you Janice and Alan Doughty
For in the photos you took, at least I can see,
The plaque to other family who are re-interred there
For this is the wall that has been razed
(I'm sure by someone who was crazed
Who had their fun - probably as a dare).
