I need some advice as to where to find assignment records for Ann who
arrived in 1839 on the Whitby. Her potted biography is below. Any help much
appreciated.

Clare

Anne Gallagher was Catholic and had been born in County Tyrone but she went
north, probably for work, to Londonderry. Here she worked as a kitchen maid
as she had no education. She was 5'1" tall with "fair ruddy, freckled and
pock pitted" skin the freckles extended to her arms. Her hair was light
brown, and her eyes were grey. Interestingly she was missing 'canine tooth
on right side of upper jaw.' Anne was a fairly wild young woman, being twice
convicted and serving two terms of 6 months each for vagrancy. Then in 1838
she was arrested a third time. Anne was tired 1 August 1838 and sentenced to
7 years transportation. The Whitby left Dublin on 18 February 1839 under
the command of Thomas Wellbank [Master] and John Kidd [surgeon], and arrived
in Sydney 23 June 1839 after a passage of 125 days. [1] It is not known
whom she was assigned to when she arrived. She was probably assigned in the
Concord area since she fell pregnant to William Morgan. They applied to
marry.[2] The marriage was July 16, 1843 at 'Hunters Hill' [Ashfield],
Church of England, Sydney, NSW, Australia. When they married both were
resident at Concord. They were married by banns by the Rev Wilkinson and
neither signed the register but rather made their marks. The witnesses were
Francis Landrigan and Ann Sands both of Concord.[3] The child Sophia Morgan
was born December 22, 1843 at Concord.
