Hi Listers,
Ive been bashing my head against a brick wall lately and was hoping someone
could offer some advice. Ive had no luck in tracking most of the info I want
for my convict, mainly because he arrived quite early, in 1807.
Ive tried checking to see who he may have been assigned to, but cant find
records prior to 1821. I cant find a TOL for him but Im sure he must have had one
as his family were bought out courtesy of the government in 1814, but cant
find 'application' records for families prior to 1824. Even checked for convicts
who were assigned to their wives, but also no records available prior to 1826.
Some sites Ive visited supply ref no:s for SRNSW, some have PRO refs, the PRO
ones I can check as Im currently living in London, but the majority are SRNSW
ones and are impossible for me to get at. Does anyone know if any early
records have survived that I can check out??? Any advice on where to look
appreciated, at this rate Im gonna have to buy myself a crash helmet for that Brick
Wall!
