Were there permanent sites for the various trades you've listed? Presumably
some of them moved around depending on where the work was but I'm wondering if
there were workshops or yards for the others.
"My" convict, Tully Mathews, was a freed man between 1815 and 1822. He
supplied bricks for government use at Parramatta in 1818 and 1819. His name appears
in Richard Rouse's ledger for the Parramatta Lumber Yard on five dates in
1818 and 1819 but with no record of his occupation. By 1822 Tully was living in
York Street. Do you know if ledgers, stores orders or other records have
survived for other sites administered by the Engineer's Department?
