The newspaper account is interesting and I have that in my files.... :) although
I think the accounts given in the HRA are more interesting. I see that one
Thomas Bates gave evidence at the trial.

Hello Lesley & Everyone
Here is some information on one of my convicts. I am directly descended from
Thomas Bates who arrived in Sydney Cove in 1799.


Have you come across newspaper reports about the Vinegar Hill battle, Lesley?
It would be very interesting to hear how it was reported back then as compared
to the writings of current historians! I imagine that many people would have
been outraged at the time
