Hi Gay

It's a bit hard to answer this as it depends on *when* the convicts arrived. On
arrival the males were usually assigned to free individuals OR to the
Government or a Government Gang OR a spouse (although not a convict spouse).
Many of the men, for instance, may have been accommodated at Hyde Park Barracks
whilst awaiting assignment The females were assigned to private individuals and
those not assigned were sent to the Factory.

Not all Indents include "To whom assigned or disposed"

That's a good question Sandy...
One I hadn't thought about before...
We see on their indents, the names of those to whom they were assigned..but
when was this decided, and where did they wait while it was decided..
Did convicts go to jail, straight from the ship, or just those who had not
been assigned, or did they go somewhere else.

Cheers
Gay
