Hi again Gay
No Lawrence arrived in 1802 - well before the Barracks was built. At that stage,
if a convict was working (or assigned) in the city, the government did not
provide shelter - only food and clothing.
By 1811, Lawrence was living at No. 7 Pitt Street, Sydney and was advertising as
a cabinet maker and upholsterer

Thanks Lesley, for that rundown..
Lawrence Butler, had no notation of any assignment on his indent..
I am aware he worked making furniture for the Government...
Would he have lived at Hyde Park barracks, during this time,.or, as I most
probably think, would he have had some living quarters set up in the Lumber
Yards.
Thanks
Gay
