You know, it JUST occurred to me, there is a fabulous postal directory on
microfiche at the Queensland State Library in Brisbane. It was issued every
year or two and I was able to follow the frequent movements of my family in
Brisbane using that source. Perhaps someone could check it for you as to
the jewelry shop/jeweler or you could contact the Library for help. Sorry I
didn't think of this sooner! Gail

Subject: [AUS-QLD-BRISBANE] The Jewelry shop opposite the Railway
BookingOffice
Greetings from Up Over!
Here's an answer to this inquiry from one of our Aussie war brides who now
resides in Florida:
-----------------
Hi, Yes there was a government booking office in Adelaide street.
It was next to ANZAC Square. My brother booked his passage to America
there.
My brother Herbert worked for the Government Railroad.
There also was a jewelry shop across from there but I have forgot the name
I used to go by train from Albion station to Central Station and go thru
ANZAC Square to Adelaide Street
when I went into the city to shop ect.
Wished I could be more help full but with age these things slip the mind

My mum was also from Brisbane but she grew up in Sydney.
So, she couldn't remember anything about this.
