Hi all!
I am searching for some answers to what happened to the BATZLOFF family who
immigrated to Australia from Frankenhau Hessen Germany. Christian BATZLOFF,
his wife Caroline ROGO and their two sons, Wilhelm and Frederick departed
Hamburg on 25 October 1861 on the ship "Cesar Godeffroy". An older brother, Carl,
remained in Germany. He travelled to Australia four years later in 1865.
Coincidently, he also journied on the "Cesar Godeffroy".
The family here in Australia always believed there were 4 sons. At my local history
library I can only find the departure of 3 - Wilhelm, Frederick and Carl. I have searched
the microfiche and cannot find another son in this family. We know Frederick worked
his father's farm "Kennington" in the Biddeston area, but were always told another
brother went to Townsville, one went to the Lockyer Valley area, and the fourth to Roma.
Can anyone fill in the gaps please? Which brother went where?
Also, can anyone help with any links to this family in Germany? Frederick's son Gustav
corresponded with relatives in Germany, but he died in 1964 without anyone knowing to
whom he wrote.
