Dear Librarian/Teacher of German
The Department of German and Russian Studies is moving to a new location in
the Forgan Smith Building next year and we are reducing our collection of
publications in preparation for the move.
Part of this collection is "The German Presence in Queensland" edited by
Manfred Jurgensen and Alan Corkhill. This anthology includes studies in
social history and politics, immigration and settlement, music, fine arts
and literature, botany, architecture, trade relations and ethnicity which
combine to form a mosaic history of the German presence in Queensland.
This book would be a valuable addition to your school library and would be
of interest to students studying the German influence in Australia and, in
particular, Queensland.
Please find attached an order form for "The German Presence in Queensland",
or alternatively, please phone 3365 2013 to find out where you can purchase
a copy in person.
Thank you
Alan Corkhill

THE GERMAN PRESENCE IN QUEENSLAND

Manfred Jurgensen/Alan Corkhill Editors

The German Presence in Queensland over the last 150 years consists of a
collection of papers delivered at The Research Unit German/Australian
Relations' International Symposium in August 1987 at the University of
Queensland.

In seven parts, this anthology presents studies in social history and
politics, immigration and settlement, music, fine arts and literature,
botany, architecture, trade relations and ethnicity.

As the editors point out, there is a wide variety of themes and approaches
which combine to form a mosaic history of the German presence in
Queensland. This volume bears witness to the lasting German influence on
Queensland and Australia in general.

With the impending relocation of the German and Russian Studies department
as a result of restructuring within the Faculty of Arts, we are reducing
our stock of publications, and are making this publication available for
purchase at the VERY LOW price of $5.00 (inclusive of GST). Postage and
packaging extra ($6.50 Queensland, $8.50 all other States).

Please complete the Order form below and send with your cheque
if you would like the book posted to you.

Copies can also be purchased in person at the Department during normal
office hours
(Mon-Thurs 8.30am-4.30pm, Friday 8.30am-3.00pm - closed for lunch 1-2pm).
Phone inquiries: 3365 2013
