My g.grandfather, August HAMANN owned land at Middle Ridge, TOOWOOMBA, in the
late 1800s.  I have a couple of queries that some-one who has been there, done
that, may be able to answer for me.

1. Was it necessary for a migrant to be naturalised to own land?  He and his
wife and child arrived on the "Beausite" in 1866, and he apparently farmed and
grew grapes until his death in 1905.

2.  If so, where can I obtain his record of naturalisation? I have no idea when
this happened.  Also where can I obtain information on the purchase or granting
of his land at Middle Ridge, Toowomba?

Any help appreciated.
