Subject: Who invented the ANZAC Biscuit?
Date: Thu, 9 Aug 2001 00:53:46 +1000
I could have sworn it was my grandmother who invented ANZAC Biscuits. I
grew up on them. I took them to school when I was a boy and later when
I was an adult, I took them to work. My grandmother was born in 1904
and must have helped make them when she was a young girl. Even in the
1980s she would tell me names of boys who went off to the First World
War and never came home. She never stopped making the biscuits until
she was too old and sick to do so. I took the biscuits for granted and
now the supply has stopped.
I think you can buy a commercial variety now but needless to say,
they're just not the same as grandma used to make.
