Thought I might throw my bit into the discussion on old recipes.
As a kid my Grandmother used to make a biscuit. It was unsweetened and very
plain. WE always called them Grandma's Biscuits because she was the only
person who made them.
My wife also makes the same biscuit and the grandchildren love them
especially when they re hot or fresh.
I remember that when I was overseas my grandmother used to make a tin full
of these biscuits and send them over to me at regular intervals. I would
share them around the troop and then take the rest into one of the local
orphanages where they would be eaten in great gusto.
I wonder if they are an exclusive German biscuit. The only two people I ever
saw make them are grandma and wife.
