Hi all,

The following is a major brick wall in the family:

In 1865 a ship named SS Sophie sailed to Australia (Hervey Bay Qld) from Hamburg and was captained by a H.W. Wendt, on board was my GG Grandfather Johann Hinrich Nikolaus MARTENS b: in 01 Jun 1846, Lieth bei Heide and one other MARTENS (Frans) who is the one I am interested in searching for. It is believed, by family folk law that Frans was 1 of three brothers that Migrated from SH, the other unknown brother was suppose to have ended up in the USA. Apparently Frans moved to Pialba Qld once disembarking from the ship and through customs. This is unconfirmed.

If there is any one with simular or any info on this family member in Australia I would really appreciate in hearing from you.

Parents of Johann;
Jurgen Hinrich MARTENS in Wesseln and Heinke Margaretha SCHODT/SCHOODT

All children born in Australia.

Thank you.

Tony Martens
