Also, in what time frame did you find this name? If it was before WW1,
remember that many places with German names were renamed in WW1. Look here
for some of them:

There is one that might be of relevance to you:
* Stegeht (now Woongoolba , south of Brisbane)
It seems to me that when hand-written, the "h" in "Stegeht" could easily
look like "li" turning it into "Stegelit".
Aside, I tried looking up a few of the old German place names in the
Australian Govt Place Name Search
http://www.ga.gov.au/map/names/
but with mixed results. Mostly it failed to find the old German name, e.g.
* Bismarck (now Maclagan)
* German Station (now Nundah)
* Blumbergville (now Boonah)
But for some old names, it did return the right place (but always using the
new name) e.g.
* Engelsburg (now Kalbar)
* Roessler (now Applethorpe)
