Hi Brian and all that replied to my query,

Thanks for all of your input...very informative Brian. I now know that the Grammar school is definitely ruled out. As for the time frame ( a teacher there "Rockhampton RC boys school"ca 1886 ) my only apparent choice would be the Convent school...but was it just for girls? Left wondering....

The Rockhampton Girls Grammar School was opened in 1892.
The Sisters of Mercy began religious education in 1873 at the Convent School

established 1894 in West Street, (I think where the existing Catholic
College is now located) and the Convent High School [for girls] was
established in 1895, located Agnes Street.

Trust this helps a little - and I will obviously stand corrected by any more
knowledgable list member/s - the older I get the less I remember.

a Catholic school in the 1880s in Rockhampton, but it goes un-named. I've
sent out a couple of emails to the Education Dept. I live in hope for a
