An interesting development:

- the marriage certificate, recevied this morning, for the eldest
daughter of John Hill (my gg grandfather), Angelina - marriage to
Frances Watt - 8 Oct 1863 at Learmouth - has an interesting comment:

`Angelina Hill being a minor & the Father being absent from the
Colony of Victoria, the written concent of the Mother was obtained
previously to celebrating the marriage`

So, which state or country was the hot spot for gold mining in or
about 1863?

Any suggestions on which state I should focus my attention?
