District Council of Rapid Bay (138)
Archibald Joseph GRUNDY
Mr A.J. Grundy has resided at Second Valley for 34 years, and has at all
times proved himself to be keenly interested in all matters pertaining to
the welfare of the district, and for a period of six years he represented
Second Valley as Councillor. He is a member of the local School Committee;
Secretary of the Soldiers' Memorial Institute Committee; member of the
Second Valley Agricultural Bureau, and of the Yankalilla Agricultural
Society. Mr Grundy also takes a prominent part in all local sport, and is a
breeder of Lincoln stud sheep, with which he has won the championship (three
years) at the Royal Agricultural Society.
District Council of Clarendon (145)
Samuel William CHAPMAN
On leaving Prince Alfred College, in 1890, Mr S.W.Chapman put in two years
in a stockbrokers office, after which he decided to take up fruit-growing,
and settling in the Clarendon district, soon became well and popularly known
for his keen interest in all public matters connected with that district.
He was elected to the District Council in 1908, and served the ratepayers of
No 3 Ward for eight years - seven years of which period he acted in the
capacity of Chairman. In 1917 Mr Chapman removed to Blackwood, and now
takes a lively interest in all movements for the advancement of that
progressive town. He has acted as Chairman of the local Soldiers' Memorial
and School Committee.
District Council of Ninnes (148)
Alexander John McDONALD
Born at Wallaroo, South Australia, in 1877, and is a son of Mr A.D.
McDonald, who came to Australia from Scotland in the early pioneering days
of the colony. Mr A.J. McDonald has for 46 years been a resident of the
Alford and Ninnes districts, and has at all times taken an important part in
various branches of local public activities. For the past two years he has
been a member of the Ninnes District Council, and represents Tickera Ward as
Councillor. He is an ardent supporter of all local sport; is President of
the Alford Cricket and Coursing Clubs, ex-Captain of the Tickera Rifle Club,
and also at one time acted as Secretary of the Western district Coursing
Club.
Allen Henry PATTERSON
Born at Barunga, South Australia, in 1878, and is a son of the late Mr W.H.
B. Patterson, JP, of Ninnes. Mr A.H. Patterson has been a resident of the
Ninnes district of 35 years, during which time he has proved himself to be a
consistent supporter of many branches of public activities. For 10 years he
has served the District Council as Councillor; is Secretary of the local
branch of the Liberal Union; member of Bute Hospital Committee and of the
Willamulka Methodist Church. Mr Patterson is also presiding officer of the
Bute Football Club.
District Council of Kulpara (149)
Harold Edwin ANGEL
Born in the year 1888 at Kulpara, in the affairs of which district he has
always evinced the keenest of interest, and for the past two years
represented Kulpara as Councillor. He is a member of the Liberal and
Farmers' Unions; he is also prominently connected with the local Methodist
Church, of which he is a member and steward.
Lawrence Percy ANGEL
Born at Crystal Brook, South Australia, in the year 1881, Mr L.P. Angel has
been a resident of Kulpara for 35 years, during which time he proved himself
to be highly interested in many matters of local importance. He is an
Ex-Councillor of the Kulpara District Council, having served that body for a
period of six years; he retired upon leaving the district to reside at
Semaphore.
