Corporation and District Council of Kadina (152)
John Nicholas PEDLER, M.P., J.P.
Mr J.W Pedler was elected to Kadina Council honours in October 1913, and for
the past nine years has represented Wallaroo Ward as Councillor. He was
likewise elected to the South Australian Parliament at the general elections
on April 6th, 1918, and still holds the position - representing the
Australian Labor Party. He is President of the Kadina A.L.P., and
Vice-President of the local branch (mining section) of the A.W.U.,
ex-Chairman of the Kadina Agricultural Bureau, President of the local
Technical School Council, and an ex-Chief Ruler of the "Hope of Paskeville
Tent," No 61, I.O.R., Albert district.
District Council of Clinton (153)
Alexander Baird FERGUSON
Born at Salisbury, South Australia, in the year 1872, is the son of the late
Rev J.J. Ferguson, who in the early days of the colony came to Australia
from Glasgow, Scotland. For 38 years he has resided at Clinton, during
which period he has held many responsible positions in various public
organizations; he has been representing Agery Ward as Councillor for the
past six years; is Presiding Officer of the Agricultural Bureau, Chairman of
the local School Committee, President of the Moonta Agricultural Society,
member of the Duke of Edinburgh, No 16, S.A.C. Masonic Lodge. Mr Ferguson
is Secretary of the Weetulta Methodist Church Trust, of which he is also
Treasurer.
District Council of Minlaton (156)
Joseph WILLIAMS
Mr Joseph Williams was born at Hill Farm, near Callington, South Australia,
in the year 1857, and for the past 43 years has been a resident of Minlaton,
where he is prominently connected with many details of local public
importance. For the past 29 years he has ably served the district as Clerk
of the Council, and for 20 years has been Secretary of the I.O.O.F., M.U.
Lodge. He is a member of the Agricultural Society, and of the Institute and
Repatriation Committees. Mr Williams is also Treasurer of the Masonic
Lodge, No 50, S.A.C.
Corporation of Yorketown (158)
James FERGUSON, J.P.
Born at Ayr, Scotland, in the year 1863, and came to Australia in 1890, Mr
James Ferguson took up his residence at Yorketown 12 years ago, of which
period he has served the Corporation for nine years, the latter four years
as Mayor. He is a member of the Hospital Board, Vice-President of the
Yorketown Agricultural Society, and is President of the Peninsula Local
Government Association (recently formed). Mr Ferguson's father was for a
time proprietor of the "Ayr Observer," and was also for some years Provost
of Ayr.
Frederich William KIRSCH
Born in the year 1874, at Yorketown, and is a son of the late Mr C. Kirsch,
an early pioneer. Mr F.W. Kirsch has resided at Yorketown for 20 years, and
has for a term of two years represented East Ward as Councillor. He has at
all times proved himself to be closely interested in all matters of public
importance, and is a member of the Yorketown School Committee, Agricultural
Society, Liberal Union, and of the local Racing Club.
Oliver YOUNG
Son of the late Mr Joseph Young, of Hindmarsh, who in 1855 came to Australia
from England in the "Thames Castle." Mr Oliver Young has during his 50
years residence of Yorketown district proved himself to be highly interested
in the public welfare of the town. For a period of 10 years he served the
Corporation as Councillor, representing East Ward, and for a further term of
12 years held office in the Melville District Council. He is a member of
the Agricultural Society, Liberal Union, and for 59 years has been a member
of the Yankalilla branch of the M.U. I.O.O.F. Lodge.
