Hi list, could some one please tell me if there is any information available
as to finding the names of building firms pre 1906, we have Ritters and
Bishops who were stone masons, brickies and builder's, and built many homes
and building's around South Australia. Richard Henry Ritter was one of these
builders, and we have been told he went with a building crew to Cape Town in
Africa, we have him coming back to South Australia from Cape Town 14 June
1904 on the "Essex", Richard was one of a crew of 9 builder's, plaster's,
carenter's and brickie's who all left the ship together, I will list these
others in case some one else can relate to some of them. I havent yet been
able to find when they left South Australia to go to Cape Town, and what
type of buildings they built there. I am hoping some one can point me in the
direction of finding further information regarding this queary please. The
othere who left the "Essex"in South Australia were:
R. EASTON - Plasterer.
G. MOONE - Bricklayer.
A. MARLINOLISH - Ship Carpenter.
D. DEWAR - Bricklayer.
E. HERBERT - Carpenter.
R.H. RITTER Brickelayer.
W. STOTT - Plasterer.
W. G. STOTTT - Plasterer.
W. DAVIDSON - Carpenter.
also 4 merchants
Mr J. BROWN, Mrs BROWN, 2 children, Mr PROUT.
The "Essex" had come from Liverpool, but cant find the date of it leaving.
Thanking you, Gay & Bob Ritter
