Hi Sharon,
I don't know if you will strike it lucky like I did, but my g-grandfather
William Hastie had a grocer's shop/bakery in Semaphore, Port Adelaide. The
South Australian Library have a photo archive on-line and I was able to find
a fantastic photo entitled "Semaphore Stores" showing my g-grandfather
sitting in his baker's cart, an employee holding the horse's bridle, various
family members standing around, taken in front of the shop with the living
quarters on the top floor and a Mr Williams's butchers shop next door with
uncovered meat carcasses hanging from the verandah......are there no
blowflies in South Australia??
Needless to say, I have ordered copies of the photos from the SA library
for $13.00 ea (6 x 8 inch size). Like a dope, I haven't kept the URL, but
your search engine should be able to find Mortlock Pictorial Collection,
State Library, South Australia.
Good luck, but you'll have to search things like Retail stores, Butcher's
shop, the Street name, St Peters etc to see if you can find anything.
