Hi everyone,
Just wanted to thank all the wonderful listers who took the time to help me in my search for my grandmother's half-sister. I think I may have located her birth, thanks to a generous lister.

Seeing as I have never tried to trace someone who may still be alive (she was born in 1912), I do not know where to start. Are there adoption records for SA? Does anyone know? Even if there are such records I do not hold much hope that she will be listed as my grandmother gave me the impression that she was given away informally ... and if she took on the name of the family she was staying with I would have great difficulties !!

Anyone who knows anything about where to start to try and track down this lady and or her descendants could you let me know and give me some pointers on where to start. I would really appreciate it !! Just feeling a little sad today that I wasnt able to find this lady before my grandmother died (2000, at the ripe old age of 93).

Anyhow, any assistance would be a godsend !!

Thanks so much to everyone,

Amy Gent from sunny Sydney
