Subject: AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS DIED IN FRANCE
Date: Wed, 12 Oct 2005 00:18:34 -0500

Greetings all from Di Cummings - Bound for SA in the morning !!

Cara made an offer on behalf of a very kind gentleman, who has
said he will supply photos of any Australian soldiers buried in
France, if you know the Battalion ( hope that is the correct word )
that they belonged to or indeed even their service number it will
make it easier, if not then at leas the full name of the person you
would like the headstone for.
And then be patient while he does the lookup and gets the photos.

I too received such an invitation on April 25, 2004. He said: If you have any relative who fought in my country or France during the WW1, I would be glad to locate him and sent you a picture of his headstone.
I replied and sent a photo of my grandfather. He replied "will email you", but I have not heard from him since then. maybe you will have better luck than I did.

I asked for info on someone in the Hindmarsh Cemetery - notice I said IN not AT.
Thanks to Lyn and Ros I have the following (just in case you want to know too):

Ros said: I am almost certain there is a headstone for William Henry BEAGLEHOLE, my sister and I were there a month or so ago, and I recall seeing it. From memory its in the middle of the cemetery (its fairly small).

Lynn said: The no. of their plot is O11/2
Margaret BEAGLEHOLE Bur: 3 May 1904 aged 67 yrs
William Henry BEAGLEHOLE Bur 3 Jun 1917 aged 83 Yrs.\
child BEAGLEHOLE Bur 15Dec 1948 stillborn.

We don't believe the child was a Beaglehole. If the Cemetery office is open on Sunday maybe I'll find out WHO was the child ??
Cheers from Di Cummings of Melbourne
