Hi Merilyn
Yes, it was the same person. Mellis Napier was in partnership with A J
McLachlan, as legal practitioners. That 1914 wedding must have been THE
society wedding of the year in Adelaide. Just out of interest, who were
your lot?
Cheers

I just looked through the article to see if there were any of my lot there.
There weren't, but I noticed among the guests Mr. Mellis Napier. I remember
Sir Mellis Napier was one of South Australia's Governors. Was it the same
person?

Subject: [AUS-SAGEN] Property called "Chasse" at Cross Road, Kingswood SA

Hi all

I'm interested in a property of about 2 acres, called "Chasse", on or near
Cross Road, Kingswood. It was sold in 1925, see:

[3]http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article59714365

The vendor, Alexander John McLACHLAN (a senator in SA - see ADB), was
brother-in-law of the wife of my 3rd cousin Ralph WILLIAMS (1888-1969).
Ralph's wedding was held at "Chasse" in 1914 and was reported in the press,
see:

[4]http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article59642649

My questions are:

1 Does the property or house still exist?

2 Where precisely is (or was) the property?

3 If the house no longer exists, are there any images of it in the period
say 1900 to 1930?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Peter
