Dear Listers:

I followed up on the address of the Portland Family History Group to
obtain copies of BDM certificates for Tasmania. Their charges are $5 pre
copy, and the Hon. Secretary, Mrs Bev Rundell, could not have been more
obliging. For Victorians researching in Tasmania, it is a wonderful
bonus. Bev sent extra information which she thought might be useful as
well. I can recommend the service.

I am still looking for the elusive William BRYANT, born 18??, died
Scottsdale 1890, married Mary JOHNSTON 1858 in Launceston, fathered a
dozen children, but left no clues as to how he arrived in Tasmania, or
anything about his life prior to 1858.

All the best to fellow searchers.

Evelyn Bryant

Their address is 8 Townsend St. Portland, Vic. 3305. Phone 03)5522 2266.
They are open 7 days a week, with the exception of Good Friday, and Xmas
Day.
