Hi Listers, Please bare with me as I am new to this list and I am after any
information regarding a Abraham Charles Battey/Batties who married a Harriet
Briers in Hobart 1885 and had 6 children 5 born in Tasmania and one in
Victoria.

My problem is that I have reached the "brick wall" in so much as I can not
find out when Abraham came to Tassie or where he came from.

It appears that he may have been illiterate and his wife changed the surname
to Batties here in Victoria when they came over in about 1889/90/91.

Is there SKS who could help me please.
