Hi,

Have you tried looking under alternative spellings of the surname? I find
this has occurred many times in my family on the TPI. Sometimes it is just
someone's interpretation of the writing when transcribing, adding what
looks like an r, when it is really just a squiggle!

I would search

Bitton
Britton
Betton
Bretton
Biton]
Beton
Breton etc, etc,

also search under the mother's maiden name, and related spellings of that
name? You never know!!!
