Hi everyone

I have received many wonderful replies to my help plea.
I have thanked everyone off-list but would like to say to
you all how helpful the listers have been. We do have
some lovely people out there in cyberspace. Thank You!

"II Y RESTERA TANT QUE JE VIVRAY" means
"I will remain there as much as I am" (this from a French
speaking lady in NSW who a lister contacted via ICQ -
thank you both). Therefore the translations of "I will rest/
remain/stay there as long as I live" were excellent. So you,
one and all, should be proud of yourselves! My basic
schoolday French went back twice as far as the majority!!!

Amongst the replies I was given a URL by another chasing
French heritage. I would like to share this with everyone.
http://translator.go.com/ As Lauris, my co-researcher, in England is popping the French records into the snail mail for my input I think my little pocket-size French/English dictionary and this site will get a real workout.

To Alan: I would think you and I will remember VIVRAY forever even if automation couldn't :-).......

As mentioned before this had been 18 years in the coming
so I would say to everyone don't give up on your searches,
especially when you find another family line between whom
there has not been interaction for generations and both
have the same story. We have kept gnawing away even
though we were led to believe our Irish records were lost
in the bombarbment. Miracles do happen for the French
records of Portarlington were not handed in to the authorities. Well, after all they were Protestants :-).......
