Hi everyone,
This is my very first Email to the group. Hope someone can help. I am
desperate to find Lizzie Ellard!. She is my husband's great grandmother.
I am researching my husband's family and we have come across a huge
stumbling block. There was a lady called Lizzie Ellard listed on my
husband's grandfather's marriage certificate as his mother. Lizzie Ellard
was married to Nathaniel (or Daniel) Watson. We are unable to establish
yet whether his name was Nathaniel or Daniel. It is listed on his son's
marriage certificate as Nathaniel. Nathaniel died in 1887 at Launceston in
Tasmania and we think his wife Lizzie remarried possibly to a Fenton.
Either that or she was Elizabeth Fenton before she married Nathaniel (or
Daniel) then married an Ellard after Nathaniel died. Newspaper cuttings
from the Examiner said that Elizabeth returned to her family in Victoria
when her husband died (we think from Smallpox during the epidemic in
Launceston, Tas in 1887). We can find no trace of her. Can anyone help?
Christine
