Hi Kay,

Sad to relate, but you probably won't get much joy out of the census
records. The records which do survive seem only to record whether
the person was born in VDL or "outside the colony". I've never seen
one which detailed exactly where "outside".

Sometimes, however, the birthplace is recorded on the death register
and/or the monumental inscription - if you can find out where they
were buried.
