Hi. A rather late reply - I have kept your list posting as I am sure I've
read about a Lempriere somewhere and haven't thought of where yet. I have a
vague idea a Lempriere was an artist in early Tas. However, while this will
have to wait I have found a listing of a marriage of Charles Abbott to "Miss
Lempriere" in 1826. It is the first name on a Genseek listing, which is why
I noticed it today when I was perusing the site. The Internet address for
the page is as follows: http://www.standard.net.au/~jwilliams/tasbdm1.htm
You can email the person compiling the index for further info.
Hope this helps.
Judith Clemons
PS I just tried emailing your personal email addresss but it bounced.

of Charles ABBOTT and Lempriere Harriet ALLEN. I have not found their
marriage (perhaps it was abroad) but I have found them to have four children
so far on the BDM index. They follow:
>
> Mary Ann ABBOTT b 15 October 1827 Hobart, Tas
> Lucy Harrison ABBOTT b 22 March 1829 Hobart, Tas
> Charles Orr ABBOTT b 29 January 1831 Hobart, Tas; d 15 October 1887
Hobart, Tas
> Thomas Beamont ABBOT b 22 October 1833 Hobart, Tas

> I find the name Lempriere to be a very unusual and interesting name, and
would be happy to hear of where it comes from, and/or what it means. It was
suggested to me that it could be the name of a ship, my research has not led
me so far as yet.
