Allison.
My gt gt Grandfather, Daniel SARGEANT arrived in Hobart in 1842 and spent
much of his life as a ships master before getting into the
Watchmaking/jewelry business. I have a photo c1880 of his shop in Murray St,
Hobart. It is a 2 story building. The sign above the door says "Abbott &
Sargeant late Abbott"
What prompted me to reply is the fact that I have a family mystery regarding
the name NIELSON located at Gore near Invercargill in the South Island of
NZ.
