Subject: Help please - convict assignment
Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2000 10:24:42 +1100

Hi List - yeah its me again!

Just found out that my Edward Sta(u)nton was a convict who came out on the Blenheim 11 (1) in 1849. (coincidentally he was one of my maternal lines, and one of my paternal lines came out as a convict on the same ship as a convict also!!)

In the remarks section of his papers, it says "9/8/49 Jos Hudson, W. Tamar". Can I assume that this is where he was assigned to? He certainly remained living in the West Tamar area after he became free in 1854. Does anyone have any information on Jos Hudson of the West Tamar please?

Also it states "25/2/51 T.L. refused", and "9/9/51 C.P. refused". I assume that this refers to Ticket of Leave and Conditional Pardon. Is there anywhere that records of these are held?

Thanks
